Refund Policy

We know plans change and life happens. We've tried to make our refund policy as fair and straightforward as possible — because that's just the Yay way. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're always happy to help.

General Policy

All event tickets purchased through The Yay Project website are subject to this refund policy. By purchasing a ticket, you agree to the terms outlined below. We recommend reading this policy carefully before completing your purchase.

Refund Eligibility

Full refund — more than 7 days before the event:

  • If you request a refund more than 7 days before the event date, you are eligible for a full refund of your ticket price. No questions asked.


50% refund — 3 to 7 days before the event:

  • If you request a refund between 3 and 7 days before the event date, you are eligible for a 50% refund of your ticket price. The remaining 50% helps us cover costs already committed to the event.


No refund — less than 3 days before the event:

  • Unfortunately, we are unable to offer refunds for cancellations made less than 3 days before the event date. By this point, costs have already been committed and we are unable to recover them. However, we are happy to transfer your ticket to another person — see our ticket transfer policy below.

Ticket Transfers

Can't make it but don't want to waste your ticket? You're welcome to transfer your ticket to another person at no extra cost. Simply contact us at least 24 hours before the event with the new attendee's name and email address and we'll update the registration.

Free Events

For free events, no refund is applicable as no payment was made. However, if you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we can offer your spot to someone on the waitlist. The Yay fam appreciates it.

Event Cancellations by The Yay Project

In the unlikely event that The Yay Project needs to cancel an event, all registered ticket holders will be notified as soon as possible via email. You will be offered:

  • A full refund of your ticket price, or

  • A credit towards a future Yay event of equal or greater value


We will do everything we can to give you as much notice as possible and minimise any inconvenience.

Event Postponements

If an event is postponed rather than cancelled, your ticket will automatically be transferred to the new date. If you are unable to attend the new date, you may request a full refund within 7 days of being notified of the postponement.

Exceptional Circumstances

We understand that sometimes unexpected things happen — illness, emergencies, or other circumstances beyond your control. If you find yourself in a difficult situation, please reach out to us directly and we will do our best to find a solution that works for everyone. We're a community first, and we'll always try to do the right thing.

How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please contact us with the following information:

  • Your full name

  • Your order or ticket number

  • The event name and date

  • The reason for your refund request


We will process all eligible refunds within 5 to 10 business days. Refunds will be returned to the original payment method used at the time of purchase.

Processing Time

Once your refund has been approved, please allow:

  • 5 business days for the refund to be processed on our end

  • 3 to 5 additional business days for the funds to appear in your account depending on your bank or payment provider


If you haven't received your refund after 10 business days, please contact us and we'll look into it right away.
