A Story Behind
"THE YAY PROJECT"

01

"It started with a problem we personally felt"

We wanted a space for young Vietnamese marketers in Australia to connect, learn, and feel less alone in their career journey. The gap was real — and we knew we weren't the only ones feeling it. 💛

02

"The idea lived with us for two years"

It didn't happen overnight. The idea lived in notes, late-night conversations, and quiet moments for almost two years. In 2022 we started sharing our marketing journey online — and realised we didn't just want to share content. We wanted to build something real. ✨

03

"We stopped waiting for the perfect time"

At some point, we realised we didn't need everything figured out first. We just needed to start small, test the idea, and see if people actually cared. Spoiler — they did. 😊

04

"We built it around a feeling"

We didn't want The Yay Project to feel corporate or intimidating. The vision was always for it to feel warm, real, and community-led — a brand that young Viet marketers could actually see themselves in. 🌱

05

"We brought people in before everything was ready"

Before the plan was perfect, we started sharing the vision and inviting the right people in — people who genuinely cared, wanted to learn, and were ready to make things happen together. 🤝

06

"Our first event was a real-life test"

Our first event wasn't just an event — it was proof. Proof that this community could exist beyond Instagram, in real conversations and real rooms. It was messy, it was last-minute, and it was exactly what the Yay fam needed. 🎉

A Note From The Founder

My first marketing job in Australia almost didn't happen. I wasn't the most experienced, but I got a second chance at the interview. Not because of what I knew. Because of how I think.

That one moment reminded me that curiosity and clarity will take you further than a perfect resume ever will.

It's why The Yay Project exists, to remind every Viet marketer that how you think is your biggest asset. 😊

The Yay Team

The Yay Project is powered by a small but mighty team of Viet marketers who believed in the mission before it was anything. We're not a big organisation — we're just a group of people who saw a gap, rolled up our sleeves, and decided to do something about it.

The Yay Mission

"To create a warm, ambitious home for Viet marketers in Australia to feel seen, grow their careers, and create opportunities together."

Everything we do — every event, every post, every conversation — comes back to this. It was true when we started, and it's still true today.

What Guides Us

Values that guide everything we do, from how we run events to how we show up for each other online.

Surfers

🤝

Community First

We believe the best careers are built together. We create low-pressure, high-trust spaces — online and IRL — where genuine connection comes before networking.

Surfers

Real Talk Always

No corporate fluff. No polished answers. We share honest career experiences, real highs and lows, and practical insights that actually help.

Surfers

💛

Give Before You Ask

We show up for our community before we ask anything in return. Knowledge, opportunities, and support are shared freely and generously.

Representation Matters

We celebrate Viet stories, wins, and identity unapologetically. Being seen isn't a bonus — it's the whole point.
